Gina Carbone Advances Math Education in a Christ-Centered Environment at Trinity Catholic High School

Mrs. Carbone’s hope for students: “I hope they walk away feeling like they learned something and were loved unconditionally by me as Christ loves us.”

At Trinity Catholic High School in Ocala, high school students are prepared for their next steps in higher education through an exceptional college preparatory education delivered within a caring, Christ-centered environment.

Mrs. Gina Carbone is one of the teachers at Trinity Catholic helping students build important academic skills and realize their potential. As a Math Teacher, she provides an interactive classroom environment – personalizing her lessons so that students can better understand mathematics and how they can use it in their future careers and day-to-day lives.

Bringing Over 30 Years of Teaching Expertise to Trinity Catholic

Mrs. Carbone realized a passion for helping and teaching children at a young age. Growing up in Arizona and New Mexico, she started babysitting and teaching swimming lessons as a teenager.

After earning a mathematics degree in college, she taught one year at her local Catholic school. She loved the experience and returned to college to get a teaching certificate.

She has now been teaching mathematics for more than three decades, and as a Trinity Catholic High School Math Teacher, she is still as passionate as ever about helping students reach their fullest potential.

She is also grateful to have a teaching career within the Catholic schools system.

“I love teaching at a Catholic school because it is Christ-centered and I can share my faith with my students,” she says. “I can pray over them and with them.”

She finds the Catholic school environment promotes important values like integrity, respect, and learning as well.

“Catholic school is a little slice of heaven compared to public school. In general, students are kind, compassionate, and willing to work.”

Creating Engaging Lessons That Help Students Learn Math

Mrs. Carbone leads a dynamic mathematics curriculum at Trinity Catholic High School. She never stops finetuning her approach to meet the evolving needs and interests of students.

“I am always adding to my bag of tricks,” she says. “Every year I learn from my students and pass that on to the next group. Anything I can do to help my students learn better or understand more I add to my repertoire.”

She believes the key to successful mathematics education – from Calculus to Algebra – is learning about the students and showing how math can be used in their lives.

“I engage my students first by taking an interest in them and their activities. Based on what I learn from them, I try to make the math real and apply it to their lives.”

Mrs. Carbone values the relationships she makes with students and is always thrilled to see their success in the classroom, in college, and beyond.

“I invest in building relationships and encourage them to reach their full potential,” she says. “For me, the most rewarding part of my job is seeing students achieve their goals, overcome obstacles, and make their dreams come true.”
