3 Simple Prayers for Children to Say in the Morning

From the moment you get out of bed, you start making choices about how to spend your day. Praying with your child can be a great way to bond and to help your child get into the habit of daily prayer. What you typically pray for may be a little different from what your child has in mind. Here are some prayers you can say with your child to start the day.

SIMPLE PRAYER FOR FAMILY

For younger children, simplicity is key. Starting every morning with a simple prayer can help them get into the groove of speaking to God on a daily basis.

Dear God,

Thank you for another day.

Please watch over my family and friends.

Amen.

STARTING THE DAY WITH GRATITUDE

One great way to start the morning is by thanking God for all the gifts he gives us. Encourage your child to begin every day with a gratitude prayer.

For this new morning with its light,

For rest and shelter of the night,

For health and food, for love and friends

For everything your goodness sends,

We thank you, dearest Lord.

Amen

A PROMISE TO GOD

Faith is something that always has room to grow. Children can grow in their faith by starting the morning with a promise to be the best person and follower they can be.

Dear Lord, thank you for a new day.

Please go before me and clear the way.

And please stay with me all the day.

May all that I say and all that I do

Bring nothing but glory to you.

I want to be the best me I can be for you.

Amen.

These prayers can help you and your child start your day right.
